One of the amazing places in Papua is Kaimana. The city that popular with the beautiful sunsets is the new district in West Papua Provinces established on 2004 with total areas about 19.040,7 km^2 and consist of 9 sub-districts. Customarily there are 5 tribes that acknowledged as the land owner in this area includes: Madewanan, Mayrasi, Kuri, Yamor and Kamrau. Since 2008 Samdhana expanding the works in this peninsula and have captured a lot of interesting color of Kaimana combining government development, local economic activities, communnity livelihood and their richest and beautiful natural resources.
Kaimana can be reached by plan and sail boat/ship. If you are from Western Part of Indonesia the main entrance to Kaimana is via Ambon or Sorong. There is regular flight operating by wing air that you can order to get the town. But if you want to takes boat there are only few number of big ship available operated by national sailing company (PELNI) its is more helpful to access their website to get more detail information about how to get Kaimana and the detail schedule of ship and airplane to get here - the prices is there too indeed.
This is the picture of Kroy Beach, is located in the central town of Kaimana. Kroy is one of the sites that having rapid development since the establishment of the District. Several public office and new roads construction are constructed and provides in this area. This spot is where we usually drop of and on our logistic and become the departure point to the villages. Kroy can be reach in 10 minute from the Airport.

Ojek or motor cycle for hired are one of the main public transport in Kaimana except of regular public car. You can easily recognize them by their orange helm with number behind. The rates is vary depending on your destination but it is affordable with low prices between 5 thousand - 20 thousand rupiah per trip. When you there and see this driver without passenger, just call "ojek" then he/she will stop to take you.
Beside 'Ojek" the other icon of transportation in Kaimana is 'Becak' a modified bicycle that able to take two old people maximum. But Becak is only available in the old town of Kaimana or around the harbor, shopping town, kampung seram, yapis and chendrawasih roads. The prices is also cheep. It is recommended to take becak in the afternoon to find some nice spot to enjoy the sunsets.

With it large forests and almosts 97% cover by primary natural landscape the beauty and complete resources of water, rivers or lakes are available to be enjoyed. Lets says Kensi Village - Arguni area as presented in the picture of a river above. Fresh and clean water are pumping out from the beautiful forests around the village. Kensi is one of the far reaching village from town. It is about 6 hours by motor boat from Kaimana town plus 1 hour walk climbing the big stone wall. Kensi is also famous with its rich on wild bush meat and eagle woods for resin.
As noted above, there are 5 indigenous tribes in Kaimana of of which are Madewana. It was took in Gaka Village that located in edge of Buruway rivers and only be able to reaching by boat in 4 hours from the town of Kaimana.
Markets is the central to mobilizing resources to accelerate economic activities. There are two big central trading spots in Kaimana, the one is in the old town exactly in front of city square park and the next one is in Kroy. I always love this place because i can get more organic fresh foods and delicious fresh fish.
Compare to other new district Kaimana is the one is advance in physical development. May be because it has rapidly growing even before the district was established in 2004. The city square park located in the old town are now be decorated with icon small canoes that take people to interact each other hundreds year ago. To memorizing that, the government of Kaimana has tranform the square that before just an empty field and playing ground with one small canoe statue. This spot is now become the spot of people to enjoy and spending their leisure time and getting relax to socialize with others.
No one will able to denying Kaimana Natural Beauty with its richest forests and other natural resources. Different types of vegetation can be found here some even un-named yet i think. The village that extend from Pulau Adi, Kambala and Guriasa in the west until Etna and Yamor in the east are presenting the un-even counting richest of the natural beauty. Triton Bay is one of the famous diving spots and the richest marine diversity that always attracting domestic and international tourist to visit this place.
